Abstract
Since last few years’ tremendous research has been carried out in multihop ad hoc networks. The major focus area is routing, i.e. the procedure to select the best route to transmit information between source and destination. In this process each node will act as a router transmitting packets to the adjacent nodes irrespective of their use. In this article the existing AODV protocol is explained in detail. And then an optimized N-AODV Protocol has been used. In N-AODV the reverse request NRREQ replaces the RREP used in AODV, which ultimately reduces the time for route finding. The route table and control message contains the information of two hops also reduces the time for route finding and improves the rate of route repair. The Simulations are carried out in Network Simulator 2 and the comparison between AODV and NAODV are shown. © Research India Publications.
