Abstract
The comparative performance of Musti Kusa Grass fiber-epoxy composite systems interfaced with graded fillers has been examined. The wear properties of the specimens were experimentally determined under constant load and speed by using a reciprocating wear testing machine. The effect of two inorganic fillers,Silicon Carbide(SiC) and Aluminium Oxide (Al2O3) on the wear properties of the specimens was determined and evaluated. Upon inspection of the results from the reciprocating wear test, it was found that there is an improvement in the wear properties of the specimens when we incorporate these inorganic filler materials. The specimen containing silicon carbide was found to have the least wear, followed by the specimen with aluminium oxide which had a lesser wear than the specimen without any fillers. The coefficient of friction and frictional force was least with the specimen that had aluminium oxide filler incorporated with it. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd.
