Inflammation causes distress, suffering and lower productivity of the victims. Synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs are not readily offered and possess severe side effects. There is a need for alternative herbal medicine that is harmless and effective in the management of various diseases. The aim of the study is to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of methanol and petroleum ether extract of leaves of selected medicinal plants, namely Mukia maderaspatana, Cissus quadrangularis, Portulaca quadrifida and Pisonia alba. The in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of crude extracts was evaluated using protein denaturation inhibition assay. The present study concluded that at different levels, all the studied leaves possess anti-inflammatory properties. © 2020 World Research Association. All rights reserved.
