Abstract
The two stage DC to DC boost converter with interleaved boost converter as the first stage and conventional boost converter as the second stage is presented in this paper. The proposed technique integrates coupled inductor and capacitors in interleaved boost converter which provides high voltage transfer function or step up gain without having an extreme duty cycle. The topology introduced above is interfaced with dSpace real-time interface (RTI) 1104 model for a generation of firing pulses for the three MOSFETs which are acting as switches in both stages of DC to DC converter. The principle of operation and steady-state analysis of the proposed topology is explained in continuous conduction mode. Duty cycles for all three switches are kept at 0.5, 0.5 and 0.64 respectively. The software used for proposed topology is MATLAB Simulink. Finally, simulation and hardware (integration of dSpace with two stage dc to dc converter) results of prototype circuit with 36 volts to 200 volts with 100 watts output power and with switching frequency of 100kHZ are kept to verify the performance of above mentioned topology with different dc loads. The advantages and disadvantages of proposed converter topology over other non-isolated DC to DC converter and its application to conventional energy sources are summarized. © 2017, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.
