A novel tetrodotoxin derivative isolated from the puffers Fugu niphobles and two other species, was identified as 11-nortetrodotoxin-6(R)-ol (4) on the basis of NMR data. The occurrence of 6-epitetrodotoxin and 11-deoxytetrodotoxin in F. niphobles was also confirmed. © 1988.
