Miniaturization of a novel rat race coupler: A comparative analysis

Abstract
In this paper, a miniaturized rat race coupler with stub loaded transmission lines is proposed to operate at WLAN 1 frequency i.e., 2.4 GHz. A comparative analysis has been made by replacing the conventional quarter wavelength transmission lines by stub loaded transmission lines. The proposed model has been designed on RT Duroid /5880 substrate and simulated using AWR Design Environment. Subsequent harmonics in the conventional rat race coupler are suppressed by reducing the electrical length less than 450. Simulation results of the designed coupler agrees well with the theoretical design. © 2016 IEEE.
