Abstract
Kinetics of Juliflora and low-density polyethylene pyrolysis using thermogravimetric analysis at different heating rates of 5 °C min−1, 10 °C min−1 and 15 °C min−1 were reported. Non-isothermal methods were used to determine the activation energy. The activation energy reported by Kissinger, Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose and Ozawa-Flynn-Wall was 68.40 kJ mol−1, 122.68 kJ mol−1 and 126.36 kJ mol−1, respectively. The copyrolysis of Juliflora and low-density polyethylene blends was performed at 550 °C in a tubular reactor to enhance the properties of the oil and the bio oil yield. Addition of low-density polyethylene with Juliflora augments the synergistic effect and increases the overall oil yield to 26.21 wt% with increased higher heating value. Oil is characterised with GC-MS and FTIR. Pyrolysis of Juliflora biomass reported higher oxygenated compounds; addition of plastic results in lesser oxygenated compounds. The higher heating value of the copyrolysis oil was 27.19 MJ kg−1. © 2019, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
