Abstract
The analysis of the measurements of the vertical ozone distribution over Athens, Greece, shows that there exists a strong anti-correlation between ozone concentration and the relative humidity. When the water vapor mixing ratio profile is deduced from the observed relative humidity profile, this anti-correlation becomes even more prominent- It is clear that some mechanism is operative whereby ozone is being depleted. One of the main aims of this study is to obtain a profile of ozone uptake rate theoretically. Although, the theoretical analysis has been performed by using available observations over Athens (typical of the mid-latitude regions), the module described can easily be applied anywhere else. This theoretical module has been designed to incorporate all the relevant dominant microphysical processes and is described in this study.
