Abstract
In this paper, we have investigated 8 different types of encryption methods which can be applied to an OFDM system and compared the merits and demerits to determine which method would be most appropriate under a given set of conditions. We have adopted a system model which transmits a data file of size 9600 bits in 100 batches of 96 bits each. We have developed algorithms through which each encryption algorithm can be applied to the given communication system and data segmentation mechanism. The bit error ratio (BER) was used as a measure of reliability and the BER is plotted against SNR, which in the channel was varied in a loop for each of the 8 encryption methods and the graphs were compared. The encryption and decryption methods tested are Bitwise encryption, Key table encryption, Frequency domain encryption, Encryption using RSA algorithm, Shift cipher encryption, Block Cipher Encryption, Encryption using Atbash algorithm and Encryption using Blowfish Algorithm. © Research India Publications.
