The proposed system can recognize printed and handwritten texts and objects from a given image. The text in the image should be alphanumeric characters or ASCII coded symbol and the object should be of predefined shape. Optical character and object recognition are done using artificial Neural network (ANN). For the recognition, the features of the characters or objects are extracted after image preprocessing and passed to neural networks. The result(s) will be the recognized character or the name of the object recognized, in text format. © Research India Publications.
