Abstract
Composite Bridge is being used now-a-days on a large scale for the construction of Highways to ease the traffic flow. It is essential to know the basic safe design speed of vehicle for a particular type of bridge to avoid accidents. This paper deals with the Time-History analysis of composite bridge to find safe design speed of Indian standard (Heavy weight) vehicle by applying train load data generator. It was performed with the help of a finite element analysis bridge engineering software MIDAS-CIVIL. The bridge was subjected to various speeds and by assessing various after-loading effects such as bending moments, deformations etc. the safe speed of the IRC vehicles for the bridge for pre determined dimensions was found out. This study is basically useful in case of emergency situations where it is necessary to carry the heavy loads such as vehicles, machines or other live loads for that it is necessary to know the speed with which the movement is to be followed. © IAEME Publication.
