Mobile network enables mobile nodes to pass over multiple base stations based on handover authentication protocol. Achieving security and efficiency are the main challenges to this process. The existing protocols for handover authentication have high communication and computational cost. The proposed protocol pairhand uses pairing based cryptography. Key compromise problem exists because of the assumption about trusted third party. An enhancement identity based security mechanism is proposed for achieving more efficiency and security without losing any feature of pair hand. The bilinear pairhand is an advanced approach as it verifies the identity based encryption method and rejects the unauthorized one. It overcomes replay attack issues which is present in the authentication protocol. © Research India Publications.
