Abstract
Geopolymer concrete is most promising and best alternative for ordinary portland cement concrete. This work investigates the adaptability of the fly ash based geopolymer concrete under its various proportions of constituent elements, which was designed using Taguchi’s statistical method. The five main parameters were considered for the investigation of compressive strength of geopolymer concrete at 14 and 28 days. The parameters include the percentage of m-sand replacement, alkali solution to supplementary cementitious binder ratio, sodium hydroxide to sodium silicate ratio, sodium hydroxide concentration and curing method with four levels in each factor. Based on these proposed factor and level, the L16 orthogonal array was formed and a total of 16 experiments were conducted. The compressive strength was analysed from the obtained results using the signal to noise ratio and the optimum level of each factor was determined. Based on each factor and levels from all the mixes, the ideal mix ratio for each parameter with respect to strength is obtained and discussed. © 2018, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc..
