Abstract
Polymers have high transmittance to THz and infrared frequencies which makes it as a better substrate for high-frequency antennas design. We have investigated different configurations of patch antenna operating at mid-infrared range frequencies with broadband operation on various low-k polymer substrates using FEM simulation. The frequency dependent conductivity and dielectric properties of the materials and their effects on radiation performance of the patch is studied numerically. The concept of capacitive feeding and Defective Ground Structure are utilized for making miniaturized antennas. And, the capacitive coupled feeding with partial ground plane obtained the 10dB impedance bandwidth more than 12% for various polymer substrates. © 2020 National Institute of Optoelectronics.
