In this paper a three phase two level Voltage Sourced Inverter based D-STATCOM and Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is used as the compensators for regulating the system voltage from sag. D-STATCOM and DVR, a shunt and a series based distribution side FACTS compensator, plays a major role in regulating the load voltage by injecting current and voltage respectively against the load parameter. A carrier based Space vector modulation technique is used for efficient utilization of DC bus Voltage. The performance comparison of both the devices is presented for resistive (R), resistive-inductive (RL) and motor load by simulation through MATLAB/Simulink software. © Research India Publications.
