Abstract
Optical burst switching is regarded as a viable solution for switching bursts over optical networks but has several drawbacks. Attackers may tend to tap the optical fiber even at the cost of permanently damaging the medium. Eavesdroppers can glean information from residual crosstalk from adjacent channels. This work deals with the security issues associated with optical burst switching with respect to confidentiality and integrity of the data burst. This work proposes a unified secured Ingress router architecture design with the use of QKBRC4 and QKBSHA 512 algorithms. This proposed architecture has been implemented on various FPGA’s. From the achieved results it is seen that the scalability of the system is possible in real time because the slice logic utilization percentage varies only between 22% & 86% while LUT utilization is only 2%. Finally it can be inferred that this unified ingress router architecture is more suitable for real time applications in Optical burst switched networks. © 2015 Research India Publications.
