Quantum mechanical studies and corrosion inhibition of aluminium 7075 in aggressive acidic solution

The inhibitive action of dichlorphenamide [ DPD] on corrosion of Al 7075 in 4N Sulphuric acid has been studied using Mass loss, gasometric measurements, potentiodynamic polarization and impedance studies. The studies clearly demonstrated that DPD has performed as cathodic inhibitor. The adsorption of the compound on Al 7075 surface obeyed Temkin’s adsorption isotherm. Quantum mechanical indicies such as ELUMO,EHOMO, Energy gap and dipolement values validated the performance inhibitor for Al 7075 in acidic solution. © 2019 University of Manchester and the authors.
