In the presence of heterogeneous catalyst Montmorillonite KSF (M-KSF) 2-chloro-3-formyl quinolines, 1 were successfully converted into regioselective 3-(quinolin-3-yl)pentane-1,5-diones, 3. A one-pot sequential reaction (aldol-condensation-Michael addition) of distinct acetophenones, 2 was efficient in an aqueous medium. © 2020, © 2020 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
