The technological advancement of renewable energy has created a significant need for research under the PV/wind based hybrid system. This article presents a detailed review of the integrated PV/wind hybrid power generation system with the primary focus on the energy crisis and its sustainability in the future. This paper highlights mainly imperative problems, disputes in the availability of resources and the importance of hybrid renewable systems. The structure of power electronic converters and their operation with integrated hybrid systems are discussed in detail. Energy management of PV/wind input sources along with the battery and their corresponding control technologies are dealt with. The recent statistics of the global status of successful PV/wind integrated projects, the future vision of an integrated power generation and important challenges facing the general deployment of PV/wind integrated power generation techniques are also presented. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd

Resources, configurations, and soft computing techniques for power management and control of PV/wind hybrid system

The world is witnessing a change-over from its present centralized generation to a future with greater share of distributed generation. Hybrid energy systems are inter-connected with wind power, photovoltaic power, fuel cell and micro-turbine generator to generate power to local load and connecting to grid/micro-grids that decrease the dependence on fossil fuels. The hybrid system is a better option for construction of modern electrical grids that includes economic, environmental and social benefits. An overview of different distributed generation technologies has been presented. This paper puts forward a comprehensive review of optimal sizing, energy management, operating and control strategies and integration of different renewable energy sources to constitute a hybrid system. The feasibility of the different controllers such as microcontroller, proportional integral controller, hysteresis controller and fuzzy controller are presented. The controller is a closed loop feedback mechanism used for power regulation which achieves zero steady state error and the output signal generated from the controller produces desired output response. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd. A review on hybrid renewable energy systems

The growing demand for electrical power and the interruption of power supply has paved the way for realization of renewable based energy generation. Smart grid comes into picture which uses DG's there by managing the power demand and also reducing the environmental emissions. This paper mainly deals with the modelling of Distributed Generators such as solar cell, PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) fuel cell and battery in steady state with power electronic interfaces and power flow management among these energy sources with or without grid. In this paper, the excess power is used to produce hydrogen to supply as input for fuel cell. The performance and results were reviewed in this paper with simulation results. © 2014 IEEE.
