SIW bow-tie slot cavity backed antenna with improved gain characteristics

Abstract
A bow-tie slot cavity backed antenna using substrate integrated waveguide technology is developed in this communication. A proposed antenna designed and investigated for band application, operating in the frequency ranging from 10.1 GHz to 10.7 GHz. The simulated result shows that 7.1 dBi and 6.1 dBi peak gain at resonant frequencies of 10.2 and 10.7 GHz with an impedance bandwidth of 7%. Moreover, the antenna is single layered, small-footprint, light-weight and can be easily integrated and fabricated with planar circuits. The proposed antenna is fabricated using PCB process. For the proposed antenna, a50 Ω microstrip feed line is used with tapered transition maintaining printed circuit board (PCB) level circuitry. © 2019 IEEE.
