Solvent-free syntheses of quinazolin-4(3H)-ones were performed by reaction of anthranillic acid with different amides, such as nicotinamide, benzamide, formamide, etc., on montmorillonite K-10. Products were confirmed by FTIR, 1HNMR, and 13CNMR spectroscopic techniques. All synthesized compounds exhibited antioxidant properties and have been compared with standard antioxidant BHT.Key words: quinazolinone, montmorillonite K-10, solvent-free conditions, antioxidant properties.

Solvent-free syntheses of some quinazolin-4(3H)- ones derivatives

This work describes the nitric acid catalysed synthesis of wollastonite (CaSiO3) nanoparticles (NP) from tetraethyl orthosilicate and calcium nitrate tetrahydrate. The formed calcium silicate nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with X-ray micro analysis. The CaSiO3 NPs showed an excellent yield (93%) towards the synthesis of quinolines via Friedlander reaction. The synthesized compound 3-dimethyl-7-nitro-9-phenyl-3,4-dihydroacridin-1(2H)-one was characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. © 2017 Taylor &amp; Francis Group, LLC.

Synthesis of calcium silicate nanoparticles and its catalytic application in Friedlander reaction

A conventional approach has been used to synthesis Indole fused acridine, 4a–e. In this paper to achieve the target molecule, 4 the reaction was performed via two steps. In step 1, there was a reaction between Carbazolone, 1 and benzophenone, 2 to get dihydroindoloacridine, 3. In step 2, compound, 3 was treated with 5{\%} Palladium/Carbon in the presence of diphenyl ether for 5 h to give a dark brown product, 4. The column chromatography was used to purify final product, 4. All the synthesized compounds such as 3 and 4 were characterized by melting point, FTIR, 1H NMR and Mass spectra. Further to check the purity of the compounds it was subjected to CHN analyzer. The target molecules such as 3 and 4 were screened for antimicrobial studies against bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis), Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), Klebsiella pneumonia (K. pneumonia), Salmonella typhi (S. typhi); and fungi like Aspergillus niger (A. niger), Aspergillus fumigatus (A. fumigatus). The obtained results clearly proves that the target molecules shown reasonable activity against K. pneumonia and A. niger. Further the compounds were screened for free radical scavenging activity using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The free radical scavenging property was performed using UV–Visible spectroscopy. The results were compared with the standard BHT (Butylated Hydroxy Toluene). Compounds, 4a and 4e were shown higher percentage of inhibition when compare to the standard. The result confirms that further research on indoloacridine will leads effective drug to the market.

One-pot synthesis of highly functionalized pyrimido[1,2-b]indazoles via 6-endo-dig cyclization

A series of indazol-2-yl(pyridin-4-yl)methanones, 4 were acquired from 2,6-bisbenzylidene cyclohexanones, 3 and anti-tubercular drug (isoniazid), and their anti-tubercular impacts were screened. Among the test compounds used against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37 Ra cell line in the microplate alamar blue assay, the compounds 4g-j revealed moderate anti-tubercular activity with MIC 12.5 μg/mL, comparable to standard drugs (streptomycin, MIC, 6.25 μg/mL, pyrazinamide, isoniazid and ciprofloxacin with MICs of 3.125 μg/mL). © 2015 Chinese Chemical Society and Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Potential anti-tubercular agents: Hexahydro-3-phenyl indazol-2-yl(pyridin-4-yl)methanones from anti-tubercular drug isoniazid and bis(substituted-benzylidene)cycloalkanones

The present study investigates a simple method for the biosynthesis of silver chloride nanoparticles (AgCl-NPs) at 37 °C using Beta vulgaris peel extract. TEM morphology assessed that the diameter of stable AgCl-NPs was approximately 10 nm and EDAX spectrum confirmed the presence of silver ion, chloride ion and other elements in the plant metabolite. The photocatalytic activity of AgCl-NPs in the colour reduction of Methyl blue (MB) was evaluated by UV-vis spectrophotometer. These results showed that AgCl-NPs have significant catalytic activity of methylene blue. Also it showed good antioxidant activity as compared to standard ascorbic acid. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.
