Abstract
Experimental information on the microscopic structure of charged colloidal suspensions is usually extracted from the static light scattered intensity I(k). With the use of the scattering relations, I(k) is linked to the static structure factor SM(k) that is interpreted in terms of macroion-macroion correlations and resembles that of simple liquids. Therefore, SM(k) can be computed from integral equation theories and contrasted with experimental data. Our main goals are the reinterpretation of experimental results for SM(k) in terms of an explicitly polydisperse model and the systematic analysis of the polydispersity effects of SM(k) itself. In our model, the interaction between macroions is assumed to be of a Yukawa type and the polydispersity is characterized by a Schulz distribution.
