A series of N-[3-(2,3-dibromo-3-aryl-propanoyl) phenyl]-benzenesulfonamides (IIa-e) have been synthesized and refluxed with isonicotinoic acid hydrazide and semicarbazide in pyridine medium to afford N-{3-[5-aryl-1-(4-pyridoyl)- pyrazol-3-yl]-phenyl}-benzenesulfonamides (IIIa-e) & 3-(3-benzenesulfonyl- amino-phenyl)-5-arylpyrazole-1-carboxylic acid amides (IVa-e) respectively. The synthesized compounds have been assayed for antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus (gram +ve), Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis & Pseudomonas aeruginosa (gram-ve) using paper disc diffusion method.
