Chalcones (1a-h) obtained by condensing 4-chlorophenyl-sulphonamidoacetophenone with aromatic aldehydes in ethanolic NaOH, were refluxed with semicarbazide hydrochloride in pyridine, to obtain 1-carboxamido-3-[4-(4-chlorophenylsulphonamido)phenyl]-5-aryl- Δ2-pyrazolines (2a-h). The structures of these compounds were established by elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectral analysis.
