The paper investigates the steady incompressible flow of a Bingham fluid through an elastic tube. The problem is solved using three different methods. At first the flux of Bingham fluid in an elastic tube is calculated using Fung [3] model by taking stress and pressure radius relation in to consideration. Also the flux of Newtonian fluid is derived in the absence of yield stress π0. The variation of flux is calculated by Rubinow and Keller [2], Mazumdar [4] methods. The effects of various pertinent parameters on variation of flux along the tube radius for a Bingham fluid in an elastic tube are calculated and interpreted through graphs. The difference in flux variation among these methods is compared graphically. It is noticed that the effect of yield stress π0 on volume flow rate is significant. The results obtained for the present flow characteristics reveal many interesting behaviors that warrant further study of physiological fluids in elastic tubes. © IAEME Publication.
