This is a theoretical investigation on MHD peristaltic flow of Newtonian and Jeffery fluid through an asymmetric channel with the effect of heat dissipation. The present study, we investigate to include heat dissipation, permeability, Schmidt number and heat generation parameter. The velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are performed in entire study. The governing equations are solved by using the lubrication approach and perturbation technique. The temperature, velocity and concentration fields, trapping phenomena and heat transfer coefficient are plotted by using different parameters. The significance of this study that the pressure gradient with different values of permeability gradually increased, where we observed that from the graph, the pressure gradient is lesser in Newtonian compared to the Jeffery fluid. Moreover, In the trapping phenomena the number of bolus greater in Newtonian fluid compared to the Jeffery fluid by using different values of phase difference and magnetic field parameter.

Effects of Heat Dissipation on the Peristaltic Flow of Jeffery and Newtonian Fluid through an Asymmetric Channel with Porous Medium

In the present work, we obtained analytical solutions for peristaltic flow and heat transfer of a Herschel-Bulkley (HB) fluid in an inclined non-uniform conduit with elastic walls. The effects of the physical parameters on the axial velocity, the streamlines, the temperature and the rate of heat transfer are discussed through graphs. Further, we discussed the results for the peristaltic transport of Newtonian, Bingham and power-law fluids. The variation in the power-law index n shows that the values of the velocity and the temperature fields are grater for shear thinning (n &lt; 1) HB fluids than the shear thickening (n &gt; 1) HB fluids. Also for n = 1, the results agree very well with the available results in the literature. Further, the inclination angle has a strong influence on the velocity and the temperature fields. © 2017 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Peristaltic flow and heat transfer of a Herschel-Bulkley fluid in an inclined non-uniform channel with wall properties

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of wall flexibility and cross diffusion on the peristaltic transport of a MHD dissipative fluid in uniform channel in the presence of Joule heating. Dual solutions are obtained for aligned and transverse magnetic field cases. The exact solution is obtained for stream function and velocity. Further, shooting process is employed to solve the energy and concentration equations. The influence of main parameters on the present flow is explained graphically. The increase in magnetic field decreases the velocity of the fluid. Also Dufour and Soret numbers enhances the temperature while they reduses the concentration field. © 2017 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Dual solutions of cross diffusion effects on MHD Peristaltic flow in a conduit

Objective: In the present paper the influence of heat transfer, wall slip conditions, and wall properties on the peristaltic transport of an incompressible conducting Bingham fluid in a non-uniform porous channel is studied. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Exact analytical solutions have been obtained for the axial velocity and the temperature by using the assumptions of long wavelength and low-Reynolds number. Findings: The effects of the essential parameters on the velocity and temperature distributions are demonstrated through graphs. It is noticed that the presence of porous medium reduces the velocity and temperature in the peristaltic channel. Further, the size of the trapped bolus gets reduced due to the presence of porous medium/magnetic field whereas opposite behaviour is noticed with the increasing slip at the walls. Application/Improvements: The results reveal that the presence of magnetic field/porous medium has remarkable effect on the peristaltic transport of yield stress fluids (such as blood) which may lead to possible technological applications in designing bio- medical instruments.

The Effect of Wall Properties on the Convective Peristaltic Transport of a Conducting Bingham Fluid through Porous Medium

The Peristaltic transport of conducting nanofluids under the effect of slip condition in an asymmetric channel is reported in the present work. The mathematical modelling has been carried out under long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations. The analytical solutions are obtained for pressure rise, nanoparticle concentration, temperature distribution, velocity profiles and stream function. Influence of various parameters on the flow characteristics has been discussed with the help of graphs. The results showed that the pressure rise increases with increasing magnetic effect and decreases with increasing slip parameter. The effects of thermophoresis parameter and Brownian motion parameter on the nanoparticle concentration and temperature distribution are studied. It is observed that the pressure gradient increases with increasing slip parameter and magnetic effect. The trapping phenomenon for different parameters is presented. © 2016 Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University.
