In this paper, a cluster-based wireless sensor network (WSN) is studied. The existing Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) and Cooperative LEACH protocols are performed while considering channel fading and further incorporating receiver diversity techniques in the system model. The performance is investigated in terms of bit error rate (BER) and it was observed that BER reduces as the cooperation among cluster heads increases due to the introduction of gain. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
