Bi-, tri- and tetrapodal polyhydroquinolines and 1,4-dihydropyridines were synthesised by the reaction of various alkylating agents with polyhydroquinolines and 1,4-dihydropyridines under sonication conditions. These were in turn converted to the corresponding pyridines also using sonication. Sonication produced higher yields in a faster reaction time. All the synthesized compounds were characterized using spectral data. © 2014 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Abstract Synthesis of 1,4-dihydropyridines by three-component condensation reaction of aldehyde, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, and ammonium acetate have been found to be efficiently catalyzed by uranyl nitrate hexahydrate [UO2(NO3)2 ·6H2O] at room temperature under ultrasound irradiation. This novel synthetic method offers the advantages of high yields, short reaction times, simplicity, and easy workup compared to the conventional methods reported in the literature. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

Ultrasound-mediated, uranyl nitrate hexahydrate-catalyzed synthesis of 1,4-dihydropyridines under mild conditions

An efficient one-pot synthesis of xanthene and chromene derivatives by three-component6 reactions of aryl aldehydes, cyclic 1,3-diketones, and 2-naphthol/4-hydroxy coumarin catalyzed by ionic liquid (IL) [bmim][PF6] under microwave irradiation is described. The present scheme provides several advantages such as short reaction time, mild reaction conditions, good yields, convenient operation, and reuse of IL. In vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated for the synthesized compounds by DPPH method. Compounds 6a, 6h, 6c, 6b, 4k, and 4a showed the highest antioxidant potency. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht.

The ultrasound-promoted synthesis of novel bipodal and tripodalpiperidin-4- ones was carried out by the reaction of 4-piperidone hydrochloride monohydrate with different alkylating and acylating agents. It was preferably reduced to respective piperidin-4-ols by ultrasonic irradiation using silica chloride, which maintains higher yields by acting as an effective supporting polymer. The sterically hindered phthaloyl derivative of piperidin-4-one was synthesized by ultrasonic irradiation which was difficult by conventional methods. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Ultrasound-promoted synthesis of novel bipodal and tripodalpiperidin-4-ones and silica chloride mediated conversion to its piperidin-4-ols: Synthesis and structural confinements

The one pot, three component reaction of p-hydroxy benzaldehyde, β-ketoester, and ammonium acetate afforded the corresponding monopodal 1,4-dihydropyridines as building blocks, which in turn converted into diversified novel bipodal, tripodal, and tetrapodal 1,4-dihydropyridines with different alkylating agents through conventional as well as microwave assisted reactions. The unambiguous structural confinements of the all the synthesized compounds were drawn out with the help of 2D NMR (H-H COSY and C-H COSY).

Novel bipodal, tripodal, and tetrapodal 1,4-dihydropyridines — Microwave-assisted synthesis and structural confinements

The 1,4-dihydro-pyridine ring in the title compound, C17H 19NO5, has a flattened-boat conformation, and the benzene ring is almost orthogonal to it [dihedral angle = 82.98 (12)°]. The hydr-oxy group is disordered over two positions in a 0.780 (4):0.220 (4) ratio. In the crystal, hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the type Na - H⋯Oc and Oh - H⋯Oc (a = amine, c = carbonyl and h = hydr-oxy) link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

Dimethyl 4-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate

Examination of the symmetric Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridine ester derivatives of the prototypical nifedipine molecule indicates the tendency of this class of molecule to form a common packing motif. Crystal structure analysis of 2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic diesters and analogs reveals that they form extended chains, characterized as the C(6) packing motif, via intermolecular (amine) N—H...O=C (C3,C5 carbonyl) hydrogen bonds. In addition, all the prepared derivatives also satisfy the basic structural requirements for their high binding efficiency to the receptor. The reproducible C (6) packing motif observed among these compounds has a use in the design of solid-state materials.
