A facile and efficient method for the preparation of 3,4,6,7-tetrahydro-9- (1,2-dihydro-2-oxoquinolin-3-yl)-2H-xanthene-1,8(5H,9H)-diones from substituted 2-chloro-3-formylquinoline and 1,3-cyclohexanedione or dimedone in water at 90 °C using parallel synthesizer is reported. The present methodology offers a tandem-cascade methodology, high yield, and operational simplicity. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A parallel and advantageous multi-component one pot reaction has been developed utilizing domino Aldol condensation-Michael addition-Suzuki coupling approach for a variety of 2,3-disubstituted highly functionalized quinolines. The domino reactions of 2-chloro-3-formylquinolines, 1 acetophenones, 2 and distinctive boronic acids, 3 were carried out utilizing PdCl2(PPh3)2/tripotassium phosphate/ethanol-water system. Efficient one pot multi-component domino Aldol condensation–Michael addition–Suzuki coupling reaction for the highly functionalized quinolines

A facile protocol has been developed for a series of 3-substituted isochromen-1-ones utilizing Suzuki coupling strategy. The reaction of 3-chloroisochromen-1one, 1 with different boronic acids utilizing PdCl2(PPh3)2-Ruphos catalytic system gave diversified 3-substituted isochromen-1-ones in excellent yields. Palladium catalyzed Suzuki Miyaura cross coupling of 3-chloroisochromen-1-one: synthesis of glomellin and reticulol analogues

The Sonogashira coupling reaction of 3-chloro-1H-isochromen-1-one and terminal alkynes, in the presence of catalytic system-Pd(OAc)2/Ruphos, Et3N base, and tetrahydrofuran solvent under aqueous conditions, provided novel 3-(alkynyl)-1H-isochromen-1-ones in excellent yields. An efficient, three-component domino reaction of dimedone 1, aromatic aldehydes (2a-o), and 1,3-cyclohexanedione 1a in the regio-selective synthesis of 3,3-dimethyl-9-phenyl-2H-xanthene-1,8(5H,9H)-diones (3a-o) is reported. TiO2 nano crystallites catalyzed water mediated microwave assisted regioselective three component domino hydrolysis/aldol condensation/Michael addition reaction of 3-(1,5-dioxo-1,5-diphenylpentan-3-yl)quinolin-2(1H)-one

Solvent-free, microwave-induced condensation of 2-aminoaryl alkyl ketones and ethyl 3-oxobutanoate in the presence of amberlite Na sr1L gave quinolinones in high yield when compared to other catalysts. Further, N-alkylation of the quinolinones was carried out effectively with various halides using amberlite Na sr1L. An N-alkylated quinolinone exhibited enhanced activities against B. subtilis, E. coli, and P. aeruginosa, similar to standard drug ampicillin. Two compounds showed effective activity against S. aureus, and one resulted in moderate activity against E. coli. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Solvent-free synthesis and antibacterial studies of some quinolinones

A series of pyrazole-4-carboxylates have been synthesised using indium bromide catalyst and the cyclisation of respective 3-substituted- isoquinolinylhydrazines 1 into their corresponding ethyl-2-(ethoxymethylene)-4, 4,4- trifluoro-3-oxobutanoates 3 in ethanol solvent under ultrasonic irradiation at 90°C for 30 min. The regio-selective cyclisation products were efficiently provided by indium bromide catalyst and are confirmed by nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy-nuclear magnetic resonance (NOESY-NMR) studies. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2011.

Ligand-free, PdCl2(PPh3)2 catalyzed, microwave-assisted Suzuki coupling of 1-chloro-3-phenylisoquinoline in the synthesis of diversified 1,3-disubstituted isoquinolines

Iron-oxide nanoparticles were obtained using chitosan templates and their crystalline character and particle size have been confirmed through powder x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy measurements. The particle sizes were found to be 10-25 nm. The diversified chalcones 2 were reacted with 1-hydrazinylisoquinoline 1 in the presence of iron-oxide nanoparticles to the corresponding pyrazolines 3a-j in high yield and purity. Iron-oxide nanoparticles mediated cyclization of 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-hydrazinylisoquinoline to 1-(4,5-dihydropyrazol-1-yl)isoquinolines

An efficient, practical, and eco-friendly method of preparation of 9-chloro-6,13-dihydro-7-phenyl-5H-indolo[ 3,2-c]-acridines (3a-c) is reported by Friedlander condensation of 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone 1 and active methylene compound 3,4-dihydro-2H-carbazol-1(9H)-ones (2a-c) in the presence of SnO 2 nanoparticles under microwave irradiation. Indoloacridines, 3a-c, were screened for their in vitro hemolytic activity, on human erythrocytes and cytotoxicity, on HeLa and Vero cells. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2010.
