With the increasing number of vehicles, it is getting difficult to manually enforce laws and traffic rules and to collect toll. In the current toll system fares are decided based on the type of vehicle. Additionally in order to identify vehicles on the highway, number plate recognition systems have been employed. However so far, no system has been created that automatically calculates the fare based on the weight of the vehicle. In this project, the development of a toll system is proposed, that uses a pressure sensor to determine the weight of the vehicle. Fares are determined according to the vehicle's weight. In addition to this, automatic number plate recognition system is proposed for security purposes and centralization. © Research India Publications.
