A bridge converter with zero-voltage switching with a parallel resonant tank is presented in this paper. The converter is switched on at zero voltage switching condition without using any other auxiliary switch or devices except the resonance tank. The operation of this proposed converter is based on the basic operation of a bridge converter and the resonance is achieved between an inductor and a capacitor tank connected in parallel with the load. As a result the volume and weight of this converter is reduced and efficiency increases by reducing the switching losses of the converter. The design considerations of this converter are explained and the results obtained from the experimental prototype validate the theoretical explanation and shows how switch is switched on in zero voltage condition. © 2016 IEEE.
