AbstractFor the first time, synthesis of AB ring core of camptothecin synthons such as (2-chloroquinolin-3-yl)methanols (Va-Vg) using zinc oxide nanoparticles is reported. The desired attractive products were obtained in high yields, short reaction time, using a simple work-up procedure with the purification of products by non-chromatographic methods.

Bioorganic Phase in Natural Food: An Overview

Controlling of Food Borne Pathogens by Nanoparticles

The practice of treating various disease using medicinal plants are as older as an ancient civilization. Secondary metabolites present in the plants are predominantly responsible for treating various ailments. Secondary metabolites are also called as plant constituents or natural compounds which exert significant pharmacological and toxicological effects in humankind. The chemical compounds present in the plant sources are categorized as primary and secondary metabolites based on the chemical structure and biosynthetic derivation. Secondary metabolites exhibit different series of pharmacological activity which can be further classified based on their chemical structure and functional groups present in it. The most important secondary metabolites include terpenoids, phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids and glycosides which act as an important source for single bioactive ingredients in nutraceuticals and modern medicines. Secondary metabolites have a very good antioxidant property which can be used as an effective natural antioxidants source in nutraceuticals. Most of the secondary metabolites have a broad range of their therapeutic activity and they directly interact with the receptors, cell membranes, and nucleic acids. This review evaluates the meticulous report of secondary metabolites, their classification, phytochemistry, pharmacological activity and its application in modern medicines which may pave the way for knowledge to identify and isolate the desired pharmacologically active lead compound in the drug discovery. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2018.

Phytochemical and Pharmacological Importance of Plant Secondary Metabolites in Modern Medicine

This work describes the nitric acid catalysed synthesis of wollastonite (CaSiO3) nanoparticles (NP) from tetraethyl orthosilicate and calcium nitrate tetrahydrate. The formed calcium silicate nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with X-ray micro analysis. The CaSiO3 NPs showed an excellent yield (93%) towards the synthesis of quinolines via Friedlander reaction. The synthesized compound 3-dimethyl-7-nitro-9-phenyl-3,4-dihydroacridin-1(2H)-one was characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. © 2017 Taylor &amp; Francis Group, LLC.

Synthesis of calcium silicate nanoparticles and its catalytic application in Friedlander reaction

A new and highly efficient microwave promoted N-alkylation of triazolo-quinazolinones was developed by treating various phenyl-substituted heterocyclic amines with benzyl chloride using K2CO3 as a base in the presence of DMF. Also the heterocyclic amines were synthesized by condensing the 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole substituted benzaldehydes and 1,3-cyclohexanedione in the presence of microwave irradiation under solvent free condition. The synthesized heterocycles 4a–o and 6a–o were further confirmed by using different spectroscopic techniques such as NMR and HRMS. The compounds 6a–o was studied for their solvatochromic property with increasing polarity of solvents. The determinations of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH) scavenging effect of the scaffolds 6a–o were carried out by UV–Vis spectrometer. In terms of IC50 all the compounds have shown remarkable antioxidant property compared with Ascorbic acid. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.

Conventional spectroscopic identification of N-alkylated triazolo-quinazolinones and its antioxidant, solvatochromism studies

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) are important materials when making different products like sun screens, textiles, and paints. In the current study, the photocatalytic effect of prepared ZnO NPs from Moringa oleifera (M. oleifera) was evaluated on degradation of crystal violet (CV) dye, which is largely released from textile industries and is harmful to the environment. Preliminarily, ZnO NP formation was confirmed using a double beam ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer; further, the NP size was estimated using XRD analysis and the functional group analysis was determined using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The morphology of the synthesized NPs was found to be a hexagonal shape using SEM and TEM analysis and elemental screening was analyzed using EDX. ZnO NPs were shown sized 40–45 nm and spherical in shape. The degradation percentage of ZnO NPs was calculated as 94% at 70 min and the rate of the reaction –k = 0.0282. The synthesized ZnO NPs were determined for effectiveness on biological activities such as antifungal, hemolytic, and antibacterial activity. ZnO NPs showed good antifungal activity against Alternaria saloni and Sclerrotium rolfii strains. Further, we have determined the hemolytic and antibacterial activity of ZnO NPs and we got successive results in antibacterial and hemolytic activities. © 2016, The Author(s).

Vegetable Peel Waste for the Production of ZnO Nanoparticles and its Toxicological Efficiency, Antifungal, Hemolytic, and Antibacterial Activities

An efficient and regioselective N-alkylation of 4(3H)-pyrimidone with various electrophiles in the presence of Fe nano particle is reported. The catalyst initiates N-alkylation of amides by alkyl chlorides. The reaction of equimolar 4(3H)-pyrimidone and 2-chloro-3-(chloromethyl)quinolines in the presence of KOH and Fe nano particle (5 mol %) in DMSO solution under reflux condition formed 3-[(2-chloroquinolin-3-yl]methyl)pyrimidin-4(3H)ones. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. 2-Chloro-3-hydroxymethyl-7,8-dimethylquinoline

AbstractAn efficient ligand-free cross-coupling reaction of 2-chloro-3-(chloromethyl)benzo[h]quinoline with N-heterocycles such as piperidin-4-one, 4(3H)-pyrimidone, and ethyl 6-chloro-1,2-dihydro-2-oxo-4-phenylquinoline-3-carboxylate using a catalytic amount of ZnO nanorods as a recyclable catalyst and KOH as the base in DMSO under reflux at 110°C is reported.
