The entire working environment is growing with a high pressure especially after the globalisation and with the development of new technologies, differentiated services, revolution of innovation, creativity explosion and varied choices. The educational sector is not an exception to this scenario. Each educational institution, with the great expectations of the students and their parents, competes with one another for excellent efficiency, prodigious performance and unbeatable uniqueness. In creating uniqueness among competitors, the demand of the management from the faculty members’ performance is too high in the educational sector. The educational sectors’ competitiveness poses a great challenge for emotional intelligence and work life balance among the employees. The employees’ expectations and the reality contradict on each other that and have effects on performance. Based on this, the study focused on the impacts of Emotional Intelligence and its subscales, namely, self-awareness, self-management and relationship control on work life balance of Employees performance in the educational institutions in Tamil Nadu. Based upon this, an empirical study was done to find the impacts of emotional intelligence on work life balance for better performance of Faculty members in the educational institutions, Tamil Nadu, India. This study found that most of the faculty members’ performance is affected by conflict/misunderstanding with the superiors, while a few of them have major conflicts/misunderstanding with the family members. This study is limited to the faculty members in the educational institutions in India; and it can be extended to other professional groups in India and abroad to get a significant insight in understanding the contribution of EI on WLB that leads to effects better performance. Persons involved in educational policy making and professional preparation consider the importance of the influence EI on WLB and provide them with excellent pay, performance based incentives, promotions, flexible working hours and other welfare measures towards improving faculty’s performance in the educational institution. © Universiti Putra Malaysia Press.

The impacts of emotional intelligence on work life balance: An empirical study among faculty members’ performance in educational institutions at Tamil Nadu, India

The study examines retail outlets attributes of proximity, price, quality, product variety; promotional offers, etc., to determine which attributes have the greatest impact on customer preference in purchasing food and grocery of organised and unorganised retail outlets. The authors conducted a study for the sample size of 100 customers in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India (50 from each sector) and 50 managers were approached and conducted interview schedule to find the reasons and expectations of customers preferring the particular retail outlet. The findings of the study are family size is the better predictor for purchasing grocery in particular store as compared to family income. The best combination of store preferred by the customer is main street location, less than 500 square feet and II generation store. The authors used weighted average method to find out the best and least attribute to select a particular retail outlet.

Issues and challenges faced by organised and unorganised retail outlets of food and grocery in India - an empirical study

Banking sector offers excellent service to customers in order to sustain in the competitive business environment. Customer satisfaction that leads to customer loyalty is the backbone of any bank. Hence, an empirical study was conducted with main focus on the various dimensions of service quality (SERVQUAL) of a Scheduled Bank that ultimately leads to customer loyalty. Data was collected through a survey research from 250 customers of five district bank branches, 50 from each branch in Tamil Nadu, India. From the findings of the research, it's vivid that the customers are satisfied with the reliability, responsiveness and tangibility dimensions of SERVQUAL rendered by the staff members of the Scheduled Bank. The empathy and assurance dimensions of SERVQUAL need more improvement to enhance customer satisfaction which in turn would pave way for customer loyalty.

The influence of SERVQUAL dimensions on customer loyalty in banking sector, India - an empirical study

In today's competitive environment, the ability to work with emotion plays a vital role in faculty members' performance. From many studies, it has been proved that the faculty members who have higher scores on emotional intelligence perform better in both work and family life, which leads to personal satisfaction. Work-life balance is the hallmark of emotional intelligence among the faculty members. Based upon this, an empirical study was done to focus the influence of emotional intelligence on work-life balance for better performance which paves way to higher satisfaction of faculty members in the educational institutions, Tamil Nadu, India. This study identified the reasons for the group of faculty members perform better than others in both work and family life.
