Identity of " women of color " " Black women " was constructed, categorized and then marginalized; their body was objectified as a means of scientific and anthropological knowledge and a site of exploitation and domination. Feminism failed to include colored/black women's views and notions in their own agenda and further anti-racist group was limited to black men. Hence women of color have been thrown out mainstream narratives and repeatedly violated by misogynistic practices. Taking this into account this paper has focused on the Mexican myth of La Malinche whose colored indigenous body was an object of exploitation and a site of resistance and self-identification and pride within the paradigms of coloniality. It also explored how contemporary Mexican-American lesbians deploy this very myth to articulate their liminal sexuality and their hybrid and bordered identities. They flaunt the very points of contention of the Malinche's ill fame, like her double speak, her unfaithfulness and her manipulative skills to reclaim their own identities around her. The paper highlights the intersectionality of third world lesbian activists and recognition of their double marginality and oppression. Furthermore, their fight against racism, normalized heterosexuality and class oppression where Malinche becomes symbolic in their narratives of such intersectionality.

Mexican Revolution is perhaps one of the most important revolutions that have taken place in recent history because it was not a revolution led by factions battling for government control, or the bourgeoisie thinkers developing new ideas. Instead, it was a revolution led by simple men rising up and asserting their fundamental rights and succeeding. It is considered to be the first successful third world revolutions. However, the other side of this revolution was that it proved itself to be a fight of male dominance which already existed in the country since its long back Aztec civilization. That's why even Mexican historians recognized and recorded only the participation of male fighters and soldiers by praising their machismo. It happened at the cost of non-acknowledgement of the participation of women in the struggle. Women participated in the revolution female soldiers, propagandists, intellectuals, writers and contributors to the economy. They fought not only against the authoritarian government but they also struggled for their female identity which finally let them realize about their rights. Introduction: Mexico has long been a country where male dominance and female subordination command society. Machismo, strong male dominance, hembrismo and extreme female submissions have their roots in the Aztec culture and the Spanish conquest of Mexico. The Spanish colonial experience was greatly oppressive to native Mexican women. The disparity between the sexes that already existed was increased by differences in caste and race [6, page3]. This research paper is going to focus on Mexican revolution, which started after hundred years of Mexican independence, with its main motive to highlight the participation and situation of women during the crucial time of civil war (1910-20). This revolution was against Porfirio Diaz who was ruling Mexico since 1876. The tenure of Porfirio Diaz in Mexican history is known for modernization but it was at the expense of racism, xenophobia, starvation, repression and exploitation of masses [3, Page 143-60]. Hence the revolution primarily insisted on the need for agrarian reform, maximum hours of work, improving wages and working conditions of rural and urban workers. Not only that, it was also the first of the great revolutions in the colonial and dependent world in which the laboring masses played a major part. Besides that, the revolution also called for educational reform, decentralization of education system, restoration of municipal autonomy and protection of the indigenous race. Moreover, it also demanded a strong economic nationalism. Due to all these reasons, Mexican Revolution is considered significant. Involvement of women in the Mexican revolution: In the 10 years of civil war of the Mexican revolution, between 1910 and 1920, as many as 2 million people or one out of every eight Mexicans were killed. This revolution created new political structures and destroyed the old one. Privilege of the creole was abolished and Mexico was proclaimed as a mestizo nation. The revolution gave Mexicans a sense of national pride and a deeply held appreciation for their own culture, called mexicanidad. However, in this context, recognition of the contribution of women in the revolution is still largely overlooked and not fully acknowledged in the Mexican history. Women in Mexican revolution played very significant role as nurse, propagandists and soldaderas. Following are the three sections giving details about the different role of women in the Mexican revolution.

Chile constitutes a remarkable demonstration of the inevitable triumph of economic and political liberalism. Since its transition to democracy from authoritarian rule in 1990, Chile has made significant progress in economic development, poverty reduction and democratic consolidation. Today, Chile can look back at last three decades of economic growth, very much in contrast to most other Latin American countries. Their social programmes of providing education, health facility and housing facilities to the poor have resulted in the drastic poverty reduction. All this has been achieved through a unique process of consensus building which provided stability and certainty to both the government and the opposition. In spite of achieving all this, Chile has been going through a phase of continuous students protest against their education system. Although, Chilean education system is ranked higher in quality than that of other countries of the region but the students in protest believe that the present education system has created a lot of segregation in the society which they term as “education apartheid”. This paper will highlight which social groups have benefited and which have not from their education policy and will analyse the shortcomings in the education policies of Chile after the end of dictatorial rule and will try to link it with the rise of first major student movement named “penguin revolution” of 2006. The paper will also discuss the course of students' movement which took a large shape in 2012 and what all it has achieved and where does it stand now.

Chile at Crossroads in 21st century: Education Policy and Students Struggle

In Distributed Compressive Sensing (DCS), correlated sparse signals stand for an ensemble of signals characterized by presenting a sparse correlation. If one signal is known apriori, the remaining signals in the ensemble can be reconstructed using l1-minimization with far fewer measurements compared to separate CS reconstruction. Reconstruction of such correlated signals is possible via Modified-CS and Regularized-Modified-BP. However, these methods are greatly influenced by the support set of the known signal that includes locations irrelevant to the target signal. While recovering each signal, prior to Modified-CS or Regularized-Modified-BP, we propose an adaptation step to retain only the sparse locations significant to that signal. We call our proposed methods as Modified-Adaptive-BP and Regularized-Modified-Adaptive-BP. Theoretical guarantees and experimental results show that our proposed methods provide efficient recovery compared to that of the Modified-CS and its regularized version. © 2014 IEEE.

In this paper, we exploit the relationship between the translational image motion and the Compressive Sensing (CS) measurements in order to perform the camera motion estimation in the compressed domain. Various CS measurement matrices have been investigated, and most of them are random Gaussian/Bernoulli matrices. Data acquisition using such matrices becomes computationally expensive for real time applications. Data acquisition using circulant CS matrices can be efficiently implemented in hardware using shift registers. We propose to use a circulant CS matrix on image frames to obtain the CS measurements and then to perform motion estimation in the measurement domain. Experimental results show that our method guarantees high motion estimation accuracy with few measurements. Our proposed method finds its application in video shot segmentation and video tracking where fast camera motion estimation is needed. © 2013 IEEE.
