This paper is a part of a project of translation of the book of Gloria Anzald{\'{u}}a' Borderlands/ La Frontera: The New Mestiza (1987) in Indian language(s). Borderlands/ La Frontera: The New Mestiza is one of the path-breaking books which came in the time when Afro-American feminism already stood in opposition to white feminism by questioning the Euro-American centric feminism. Anzald{\'{u}}a started discussing Chicana feminism together with black feminism. Her book Borderlands is a painful but challenging narration of those who live on the ‘barbwire' between Mexico and the USA. In defining the border, she goes beyond the physical meaning to its symbolic significance and one of them is language. Language in her book has been uniquely presented as an identity that is multilingual, creolized, mestiza and subaltern language. Hence, her book is a challenge in the field of translation, especially in Indian context where languages have political, social and historical impact. Considering the above book as a project, I would primarily discuss why this book should be translated considering the Indian context? What are the different ways in which the translation can be defined in translating a text from One-Third world to another Third world? In this process, we find it relevant to revise the language and its relations to power in a postcolonial India, taking into account caste, class and colonial discourse. This epitome opens a debate to enter into the new political strategies which Gloria Anzald{\'{u}}a propagates through her book “Nueva Conciencia Mestiza” as moving towards “new language” which could be more inclusive.

Translation of Anzald{\'{u}}a's book Borderlands in Indian language(s): A challenge in the Indian context

Introduction: Diabetes is a global health concern and also a major contributor to mortality in most developing countries. People usually choose the best available option to derive maximum satisfaction from healthcare services. Based on this the present study has been done to the factors influencing the choice of healthcare services of diabetic patients. Objective: The main aim of this study is to analyse the factors determining the diabetic patient’s choice of healthcare services. Methods: To analyse the socio-economic factors determining the diabetic patient’s choice of healthcare services, a binary logistic regression model was used. Results: Factors such as age, education, gender, monthly income and treatment cost were found to be the determinants. Peo-ple’s choice of health care services was not identical and needs to be improved. At .000 p – valve treatment cost had a significant impact on healthcare choice. Conclusion: The study suggests that increasing formal education on patients with diabetes would help them in choosing the appropriate healthcare services and they would be able to afford healthcare charges on their own. © IJCRR.

Socio-economic factors influencing the diabetic patients choice of healthcare services in vellore, tamil nadu

Recently, learner autonomy has gained great attention in educational research and pedagogical practices. For the purpose of promoting learner autonomy in a language classroom, first of all, we need to make teachers aware of the concept and its benefits. It is due to the fact that teachers are the ones who create and maintain learning communities. Accordingly, the focus of this study was to explore Iranian EFL teachers' intuition and understanding of learner autonomy and their perceptions of teachers' roles in autonomous learning. In order to figure out the situation, 160 English teachers answered an open-ended questionnaire. Qualitative data was analyzed through content analysis and other relevant statistical procedures. The findings demonstrated the current understanding of the teachers about the concept of learner autonomy in language learning and their perceptions of teachers' roles in autonomous learning. Teachers' Perception of Autonomous Learning: Take It with a Pinch of Salt.

Rock typing is a process through which reservoir layers are classified into distinct units with similar geological conditions. The Kozeny-Carman's equation is commonly used for rock typing based on the porosity-permeability relationship, but it only considers spherical grains in its calculations which does not give representative results on many occasions. Thus, an attempt was made in this study to develop a new mathematical equation to correct the porosity-permeability relationship in rocks with ellipsoidal grains. To validate this equation, several pore-scale models were analysed using the Discrete Element Method (DEM) where the porosity was calculated under different conditions. The permeability of the pore scale models containing ellipsoidal (spheroidal) grains with different aspect ratios were then determined using the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). This was followed by applying the new equation by incorporating the eccentricity of grains in the correction shape factor of the Kozeny- Carmen's equation. The results obtained indicated that any deviations in the sphericity of the grains (increase or decrease in the aspect ratio) increase the permeability of the model. In other words, the developed pore scale model with the aspect ratio of 1.0 (spherical grains) had the lowest permeability at the same porosity. This could be due to the bridging of pores with the ellipsoidal grains which causes a longer and narrower fluid path. Moreover, the models with the aspect ratio of 0.5 and 2.0 had a similar porosity-permeability correlation which could be linked to their similar packing structure. The new equation was further validated through the literature and numerical studies to ensure its accuracy under different geological conditions.

Diabetes is the key critical issue needs to be concerned for various problems in our body. Increase in glucose and fructose content in our body results in diabetes mellitus. When a body generates higher insulin level than the required, it results in increased urination and excessive thirstiness which in turn results in kidney failure and other cardio-related issues. Many research agencies invested their funds on defining the predictive methodology and finding the root cause of those results in mellitus. Mellitus results in the highest mortality rate compared to any other disease reported by the health organizations across the globe. In this, the predictive methodologies, various classification techniques are discussed, and the results are analyzed. The classification methodology could be on medications, food habits, personal behaviors, age factors and so on. The datasets are processed and analyzed with the neural network algorithms, and the results are compared with one another. The datasets are taken from the National Family Health Survey results published during the period of 2016–2017. The result implies that men between ages 15–49 among 1 billion people have reported with diabetes mellitus. Diagnose and forecast on this disease are done by recognizing the pattern formation and grouping the similar structures. Various algorithmic techniques like M-layer perceptron, nearest neighbor, vector machines, data regressions, binary regression and their accuracy of forecast, speed and sensitivity are calculated, analyzed and compared to define the accurate prediction methodology over a short span of time. The forecast methodologies are focussed to provide solutions to avoid the intensive care system provided proper medications with a long duration when it is been predicted to be a risk factor. A statistical method of analyzing is performed for the comparative analysis. The learning and training methodologies are discussed in this system. Accuracy, specificity, sensitivity are the key parameters to define the best forecast methodology. Classification on association, regression techniques and neural algorithmic techniques is analyzed and compared to refine the best predictive forecast methodology by processing 30 samples across the states of India with focus on determining the type of mellitus along with the accuracy on definition. The forecast data utilized to define the type of mellitus and the prediction on critical measures over a period of time. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2021.

A majority of Western instructional approaches promote active learning instructional strategies influencing learners to think critically and creatively, thereby inculcating higher-order thinking skills. Cognitivism or Cognitive theory, an area of study associated with thinking skills, tries to understand the process that happens in the minds of learners that includes language learning and its use. As opposed to the behaviourist notion that language is learnt automatically by repetition and re-enforcement, the cognitive approach looks at it as a conscious and controlled thinking process that involves understanding and reasoning. With the advent of Artificial Intelligence and IoT [Internet of things], the day is not far when human beings will transcend known channels of interface to respond to machines, and communicate through a voice-enabled interface.
