Organic material of bis(cyclohexylammonium) succinate succinic acid (BCSSA) single crystal was grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature and bulk of BCSSA was grown by slow cooling method. Single crystal XRD analysis reveals that the BCSSA crystal belongs to the triclinic crystal system with centro-symmetric space group (P1¯) The FT-IR spectrum confirm the functional groups of NH3+, succinate and succinic acid present in the BCSSA crystal, showing the evidence of compound formation and optical band gap was calculated using UV-Vis-NIR analysis. The third order nonlinear optical parameters were calculated by Z scan technique using 532 nm diode pumped CW Nd:YAG Laser and the optical limiting spectrum of BCSSA shows the suitability in optical limiting applications. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

Bulk growth, electrical, linear, third order nonlinear optical and optical limiting properties on bis(cyclohexylammonium) succinate succinic acid crystal

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in the shopping styles and buying behaviour of male and female Indian consumers. The research used the Sproles and Kendall (1986)’s Consumer Style Inventory (CSI) on a sample of 166 men and 98 women. T-test revealed that there are significant differences in the decision making styles among male and female consumers, constituting of 5 factors namely, Perfectionism; Novelty & fashion consciousness; Store loyalty & store image consciousness; Impulsive & carelessness and the Harried shopper. The second objective of the study was to validate the 8 original CSI factors in an Indian context. Exploratory factor analysis was used to analyse and understand the differences in decision-making styles of male and female consumers. The study identified 12 common factors for male and female consumers. Out of the 12 factors, 4 new traits emerged. They slightly vary from the 8 original CSI factors. These 4 new traits are i) Quality Consciousness; ii) Brand loyalty; iii) Store loyalty and store image consciousness and iv) Variety seeking factors. On separately analysing the data pertaining to men and women, 8 and 9 factors respectively emerged, indicating certain differences. They provide new insights into their decision making styles. Our research identified a new factor called ‘harried shopper’, indicating that shoppers make choices in a hurry when pressed for time. Gender differences in consumer shopping styles in India

Global warming may also increase the risk of some infectious diseases, particularly those diseases that only appear in warm areas. Some scientists believe that algal blooms could occur more frequently as temperatures warm - particularly in areas with polluted waters - in which case diseases such a cholera that tend to accompany algal blooms could become more frequent Concentrations have increased mainly because of the use of fossil fuels, deforestation and other human activities, spurred on by economic and population growth. Greenhouse gases stop energy escaping from the Earth's surface and atmosphere. If levels rise too high, excessive warming can distort natural patterns of climate, researchers say. Of people around the world throughout the world, the prevalence of particular diseases and other threats to human health depend largely on local climate. Extreme temperatures can directly cause the loss of life. Moreover, several serious diseases only appear in warm areas. Finally, warm temperatures can increase air and water pollution, which in turn harm human health. The most direct effect of climate change would be the impacts of hotter temperatures themselves. Extremely hot temperatures increase the number of people who die on a given day for many reasons: People with heart problems are vulnerable because one’s cardiovascular system must work harder to keep the body cool during hot weather. Heat exhaustion and some respiratory problems increase. Global warming may also increase the risk of some infectious diseases, particularly those diseases that only appear in warm areas. Diseases that are spread by mosquitoes and other insects could become more prevalent if warmer temperatures enabled those insects to become established farther north; such "vector-borne" diseases include malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever, and encephalitis. Some scientists believe that algal blooms could occur more frequently as temperatures warm — particularly in areas with polluted waters — in which case diseases such a cholera that tend to accompany algal blooms could become more frequent. Global warming threat to global health in the 21ST century

Development of smart cities and industrial corridors will ensure that ideas get transformed into products. Skill development program will provide the necessary workforce to the entrepreneur. Based on all these, one can exemplify the fact that Make in India has brought out a positive impact on all young entrepreneurs. The perception of the world towards India has completely changed and above all, it has motivated, encouraged and empowered entrepreneurs to make in India. Mere launch of “Make in India” campaign is not enough. The success of this campaign would depend upon potential, availability and skill set of its work force along with the availability of financial services required to propel the operations and growth of a manufacturing unit. Internet of things (IOT) integration with enterprise resource planning application in manufacturing industries

Businesses are essentially the people in it, so anything that influences the effectiveness of their minds also has its impact on businesses they run or work for. Emotional intelligence has been now branded as a trait required for any employee in an organisation. Emotions play a deciding role in the quality of our personal and professional lives, more than our actual brain intelligence. The scope of this study is on young employees as they are more volatile and fail to recognise the need for emotional intelligence and its role in well-being. This study throws light on the handling of their emotions by employees and its impact on personal well-being. It also aims at finding the key influencers of emotional suppression. For the study, 100 samples were collected from young IT sector employees working in Chennai using convenience sampling. A well-structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from the respondents. The data was analysed using SPSS. The study shows that EI and its dimensions have a significant effect on well-being. And emotional intelligence and well-being scores of respondents can be used to determine their level of emotional suppression. © 2018 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

An empirical research on quality of work-life - an employee perspective

This research article attempts to study the influence of human resource practices, namely work environment, compensation, training and development and organisational support, on faculty's intention to stay. A survey was conducted using convenience sampling method wherein 150 questionnaires were distributed to faculty members working in higher education management institutes in Delhi, India. The completed questionnaires that could be used for analysis were of 102 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, categorical regression, part and partial correlation. Compensation depicted most significant influence on faculty's intention to stay with the institution. Work environment and training and development also exhibited a positive correlation with intention to stay. The study highlights the need for education institutes to focus on providing a healthy work environment, competitive compensation and skill development of faculty members, leading to an enhanced research and teaching, which thereby would help institutions to grow and progress in management education. Influence of human resource practices on faculty's intention to stay in higher education management institutes

From supporting function to a business enabler, the role of the supply chain (SC) is evolving significantly. Well managed SC brings cost benefits, agility and flexibility to the businesses and provides the competitive advantage and differentiation strategy. Changing trends, roles and business environments also brings the complexity in the way SC is coordinated, controlled and managed. To address this complexity and manage supply chain, effective SC performance management is the must. The objective of this paper is to review the literature on SC performance measures, metrics and management and also focuses on the various theoretical frameworks, approaches and their classifications using a structured approach. Further, this article also provides the taxonomy in the field of SC performance and commentary on SC performance management, managing strategic fit, contextual traits, trends in SC and its impact on SC performance management, SC visibility, collaboration and trust followed by SC risk management.
