Knowing about the future returns attract every investor. Investors can take appropriate decisions once they know what would be the future returns based on their investments. To know the returns, the earlier studies have proposed basic models like Efficient Marker Hypothesis and Random Walk Model, whereas these theories have their own limitations in predicting the direction of the stock and the next day value of the stock. Later with the evolution of Machine learning and Deep Learning Techniques, there were many experiments which were made to study the stock markets. The present research paper aims at applying the Deep Learning technique of Artificial Neural Network to predict the direction of the stock index. The data consist of daily open price, close price, high price, low price and volume of NIFTY 50, S&P 500, New York Stock Index, Korean Stock Index, Dow Jones Index and Shanghai Stock Index from Jan 2015 to May 2020. The open price of the index is fed as input to the Artificial Neural Network. The model is evaluated on different performance metrics of Accuracy, Precision, Recall and F1-Score.

Predicting stock market movements using artificial neural networks

In the present competitive scenario, any industry is focusing work life balance of their employees, to create a healthy win-win environment for both the employees and organisation. The literatures studies display that male employees or workers are affected by work life imbalance but females are more prone to work family imbalance issues. The work life balance issues are not only dependent on women's capability and energy but also dependent on various factors related to work environment (like working conditions, work flexibility, work demands, working hours, travelling time, advancement of technology, etc.) and family related factors (like family demands, support from family members, demographic profile, time, energy and other personal factors). When these family and work related factors tend to interfere with each other by making individual to concentrate on one role leaving the other an imbalance occurs between family and work, that results in work family conflict, family work conflict, stress, tension, poor performance, absenteeism and turnover from workplace. This article discusses about the work life balance of women workers working with tannery industry in Tamil Nadu, India. An empirical bivariate study on work life balance of women labours with special reference to tannery industry

Psychological reactance gained scholarly attention and is continued to be explored across various disciplines ever since Brehm proposed reactance theory in 1966. Proliferation of intrusive marketing and promotion efforts across communication channels induce negative reactions from significant number of consumers. Little effort has been made in reviewing and consolidating the results of previous literature in the context of consumer reactance. To address this research gap the current study systematically reviewed the existing literature and has attempted to classify consumer reactance variables by using the stimulus–organism–response (S–O–R) framework. A conceptual framework was then built to explain the interrelationships between these three key S–O–R elements of consumer reactance. Lastly the implications for practitioners’ and researchers’ have been discussed. Propositions for future research are put forward. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Toward an integrated model of consumer reactance: a literature analysis

Purpose: The objective of the paper is to identify and model the relevant enablers related to the issue of adoption and implementation of project-based learning (PjBL) in higher educational institutions. Design/methodology/approach: The present study has developed an integrated model using interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and the Fuzzy Matrice d' Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliqué an Classement (FMICMAC) approach, which helps to identify and classify the important enablers and reveal the direct and indirect effects of each enabler on the PjBL implementation in higher educational institutions. Findings: The paper has identified the key enablers and presented an integrated model using ISM and FMICMAC. The result shows that there exists a group of enablers having a high driving power and low dependence requiring maximum attention and strategic importance, while another group consists of those enablers that have high dependence and are the resultant actions. Research limitations/implications: The study proposes a scientific way to model the relevant enablers to implementation of PjBL. This would help higher educational institutions to prioritize the enablers as these are hierarchically structured. The model is based on the experts' opinions, which may be biased, influencing the final output of the structural model. Originality/value: Enablers are building blocks for the adoption of PjBL. The study presents an integrated model using ISM and FMICMAC to identify and categorize various key enablers of PjBL adoption in higher education institutions. The results will help higher educational institutions to focus on the right enablers for the successful implementation of PjBL in their programs. © 2021, Emerald Publishing Limited.

Modeling the enablers of project-based learning: an ISM-Fuzzy MICMAC approach

This study s purpose was to understand and test a modified model of service-provider selection-criteria in hospital service settings. Using a thorough literature review, the study developed an instrument using scaled items under eight identified hospital selection criteria. The study covered 55 hospitals in Indian cities. All of the eight hospital selection criteria studied positively influenced customer choice. The results validate the applicability and relevance of the standardised model in healthcare context. The moderation analysis highlights that patient s gender and age do not moderate the eight selection criteria for hospital choice. Hospital marketing, operations, administration, and planning can be better with understanding of factors that increase patient satisfaction. © 2021 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.. Hospital choice by Indian customers - empirical testing of a standardised model of service provider selection criteria

Delighting consumers has been one of the most important goals for marketing stakeholders but the effect of historical nostalgia on tourists delight at the world cultural heritage sites has rarely been examined. This study examines the impact of historical nostalgia on the heritage tourists' delight, their satisfaction and destination loyalty intention. The survey for the study was conducted at the world cultural heritage site of Mahabalipuram, India. The hypotheses were tested through the structural equation modelling technique. The results indicated positive and significant effect of historical nostalgia on tourists' delight, satisfaction and destination loyalty intention. The study makes contribution to the tourism studies by examining the role of historical nostalgia in delighting the tourists at the cultural heritage sites and instructs the managers to evoke such experiences to keep the heritage tourists delighted and thereby enhance their loyalty.

There has been a growing concern about the performance measures based on traditional accounting information such as return on equity (ROE), return on capital employed (ROCE), return on net worth (RONW), earning per shares (EPS), net operating profit after taxes (NOPAT) and return on investment (ROI). These measures although widely used fail to capture the shareholders’ value creation/destruction as a result of management actions. The concept of economic value added (EVA) and market value added (MVA) have gained popularity all over the world particularly in the USA, the UK and European countries. EVA and MVA are finding acceptance as internal and external performance measures because these two measures are consistent with the organizational objective of shareholders’ value creation. Due to its popularity, a lot of research work has been conducted in the late 1990s covering diverse issues on EVA and MVA. In the light of the above, the present study made an attempt to calculate EVA as well as MVA and to analyze whether Apollo Tyres is creating or destroying shareholders’ wealth during the study period.

Corporate Identity: Relevance in Transformation of Logos in FMCGs

Social networking sites (SNS) are classified as hedonic and utilitarian information systems. Over a period of time some SNS have been found discontinued. Studies found that SNS that are used extensively for entertainment purposes resulted in negative consequences in terms of increased stress and fatigue thus abandonment of its use. At the same time there are other SNS that have been found successful with active users. This necessitates a need to examine if the continuous use of SNS is driven by entertainment purpose alone. The current study uses theoretical IS continuance model to find key determinants of continuous use of SNS. Findings, contrary to previous studies, reveal that continuous use of SNS is largely influenced by utilitarian motives and e-satisfaction. Entertainment surprisingly was found insignificant towards use intentions. A mediation analysis further reveals that e-satisfaction partially mediates utilitarian value.
