The need for Financial Inclusion is globally ascertained by the World Bank through its recent call for Universal Financial Access (UFA) by 2020. According to UFA goals, more than 55 countries have committed to provide access to transaction account through targeted interventions to the economically downtrodden civilians. The formal financial services such as credit services, payment services, business services, and digital services are far more efficient (with respect to wider range, transaction cost, and risk involved) than the informal financial services provided by the money lenders, credit unions, etc. However, several studies have indicated that the Low Income Households (LIH) prefer to use the informal financial services than the formal financial services despite being aware of its limitations. The reasons widely attributed for such behaviour are the objective factors such as income, literacy, accessibility, etc. which is based on the classical finance theories such as Life Cycle Hypothesis and Permanent Income Hypothesis. At the same time, the behavioural finance theories such as Behavioural Life Cycle Hypothesis (BLCH), Regret Theory, Prospect Theory, etc. state that the role of subjective factors (behavioural and psychological factors) also should be deliberated while explaining the financial behaviour pattern of the individual households. The researches in this spectrum are in the early stage of theory-building. Moreover, the majority of the existing research studies in this field are based on the Middle Income Households and Upper Income Households. So the dearth of researches on LIH and on the role of behavioural factors in the financial inclusion is the genesis for this research paper. The research objective of the study is to explore and identify the behavioural and psychological factors that influence the continued usage of the formal financial services among the LIH in India. Convenient sampling method is employed to collect the data from the target group. The statistical tools used in the study are the descriptive statistics and Factor Analysis. The suggested managerial implication of the study is to provide the insights for the policy makers to formulate appropriate financial inclusion strategies, and for the formal financial institutions to mould the behaviourally informed financial services. © IAEME Publication.

Behavioural factors that influence the continued usage of formal financial services among the low income households

Actinobacteria is found to have a potent metabolic activity against pathogens. The present study reveals the assessment of potent antifungal secondary metabolites from actinobacteria isolated from Indian marine mangrove sediments. The samples were collected from the coastal regions of Muthupet, Andaman and the Nicobar Islands. Identification was carried out using 16S rRNA analysis and biosynthetic genes (Polyketide synthase type I/II and Non-ribosomal peptide synthase) were screened. Actinobacteria were assayed for their antifungal activity against 16 clinical Candida albicans and the compound analysis was performed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry GC-MS. The 31 actinobacterial strains were isolated and 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed that this ecosystem is rich on actinobacteria, with Streptomyces as the predominant genus. The PCR based screening of biosynthetic genes revealed the presence of PKS-I in six strains, PKS-II in four strains and NRPS in 11 strains. The isolated actinobacteria VITGAP240 and VITGAP241 (two isolates) were found to have a potential antifungal activity against all the tested C. albicans. GC-MS results revealed that the actinobacterial compounds were belonging to heterocyclic, polyketides and peptides. Overall, the strains possess a wide spectrum of antifungal properties which affords the production of significant bioactive metabolites as potential antibiotics. © 2018 by the authors.

Women penetrating into the work force have become a global phenomenon. This has added a value to women as well as changed the attitude towards them. Women employees play multiple roles and try to achieve the desired balance between work and family responsibilities, but they still find it difficult. Organisations should guide and practice HR policies which enables them to prioritise the roles accordingly and complete the tasks of work and family. This research paper is an empirical study that narrates the work-life balance of women labours working in the tannery industry. The study found the positive relationship between age of the respondents and having stress-related diseases. The researchers have found that the management gives more support to women in balancing work and family when compared to superiors, colleagues and family members. This study also revealed that annual income of the respondents with responses towards the imbalance between work and family life, a flexible organisation and responsive to family-related needs and work life balance options in the company. © Copyright 2018 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Work life balance of women workers in tannery industry, Tamil Nadu - an empirical bivariate study

Desalination using solar stills is an ancient economic method for water desalination. Over the years, research and development in the area of solar still has resulted in increased distillate yield by means of integration of PCM (phase change material), photo-voltaic thermal (PVT), etc with the still. Nano-PCM is an upcoming technology which modifies the thermal performance of PCM. The aim of this research is to analyze the efficiency of 20 solar stills including nano-PCM based solar stills considering various input and output criteria using integrated fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and data envelopment analysis (DEA). The efficiency derived here is relative with regard to the parameters and stills considered in this study. The result infers that, even though the productivity of stepped solar still with sun tracking system was high, but when techno-economic aspects were considered it is not among the top solar stills. The analysis indicated pyramid type solar still, single slope solar still with PVT, solar still with NPCM (paraffin + copper oxide), solar still with NPCM (paraffin + titanium dioxide) and solar still with PCM (paraffin) occupies the top five positions with relative efficiency of 100, 100, 88.47, 88.46 and 76.93% respectively. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd

Techno-economic analysis of solar stills using integrated fuzzy analytical hierarchy process and data envelopment analysis

Objective: The objectives of this paper is to assess the quality of services offered by multi-speciality hospital suffice patient satisfaction. Also to bring out the various factors that creates patient satisfaction. Further to evaluate the aspects relating to expectation, perception and satisfaction of the services provided by the hospital. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine service quality in multi-speciality hospital in a town where fast mushrooming of private hospitals are at large in South India, India. Specifically, this study examines the five dimensions of SERVQUAL instrumentation (reliability, assurance, tangibles, empathy, and responsiveness) with respect to customer satisfaction of the services offered by the hospital. A comprehensive service quality measurement scale (SERVQUAL) is empirically evaluated for its potential usefulness in a Multispecialty Hospital. Findings: The patients showed positive response on the service quality variables and do have high agreement levels of the dimensions of SERVQUAL.Service quality has emerged as the highest expected aspect by the patients at the hospital. Research limitations: The research scope registered only patients experiences, (respondents) and experiences observed at the time of study. Practical Implications: The study provides a new understanding of SERVQUAL dimensions in the context of a multi-speciality hospital in a place where these services are provided and offered with a differentiation. Thus provides an understanding of these dimensions and its role in making the organisation stand out among the intense competition and sustain in the long run. © BEIESP.

A service quality and its influence on customer satisfaction in a multi-speciality hospital

Purpose-Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has taken an increased attention and importance in recent years especially in India for companies’ act 2013 and its influence, as banking investors have given an increased priority to solve existing issues in their banking investment decision-making. The purpose of this paper is to empirically examine the impact of CSR on financial performance in terms of Net profit After Tax (NPA), Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE) and Earnings per Share (EPS). Design/methodology/approach–This research is basically a causal study and Cross sectional models are employed to identify the impact of CSR on financial performance of selected private sector banks in India. Sample& Statistical tools techniques–In this study the sample of five years data from (2012-2017) of four private sector banks HDFC, Axis, KMB and ICICI have been taken. To find out the cause and effect relationship between CSR on financial performance of the banks correlation and Regression tools have employed. Findings – The empirical results shows that there is no relationship between CSR expenditure and financial performance of private sector banks in India. The CSR expenditure pattern of the banks explained that the banks in India have increased the level of CSR activities year by year and it is a sign of good improvement. © IAEME Publication.

Does corporate social responsibility expenditure influence banks financial performance? – Evidence from selected private sector banks in India

The objective of the Study is to comprehend the various global business expansion and related strategies implemented by three major retail companies in the three continents, namely the US, Europe and Asia Pacific. A number of empirical, review, conceptual articles and case studies were reviewed for global business strategy, followed by the evaluation of leading indicators and analyses of a number of National and International business research papers and articles. The key findings include that the successful global expansion includes thorough adaptation to the local business markets whose key constituents are customers, culture and customs, competition, and local laws. The article also includes the comparison of key parameters between three retail companies. The international business expansion for top retailers is also a challenging task when it comes to different market realities across continents. But, there are also successful global retailers whose presence is not bounded by continental geographies. The global retail industries are long-haul businesses with longer breakeven periods. So, an effective global business expansion strategy should be implemented with insight into the future business requirements. © IAEME Publication.

A review of metro, target, &amp; woolworths global business strategy

In the current scenario, the common news in newspapers is that many highly educated and dual income couples prefer to opt for divorce, separation or the partner may get killed by the spouse. The reason for this may be due to the immense stress they face at work and also due to the family environment. Their work-life balance is very poor, suffer high ego, unable to spend time with family members and are pampered children of their parents. If the person is highly educated, has high income, and also receives support from family members, he /she can face failure easily which is caused by family life; for others, they may end up making harsh decisions like committing suicide, lodging a report against their spouse, starting unhealthy habits which affect his /her health or harass their life partner. This motivated the researchers to carry out the study of less educated, lower income female employees who are working in the tannery industry. The researchers found that current experiences and dual earners are the most important independent variables in predicting stress, such as hypertension, obesity and gynecological problems. The researchers also found respondents with certain demographic profiles to work more productively than others. This study also reveals the most and least preferred attributes of work life balance. © Universiti Putra Malaysia Press.

The influence of demographic profile on work life balance of women employees in tannery industry - An empirical study

Organizations require to enhance their firm level resources to compete in turbulent business environment. Strategic application systems, such as an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System is one such resource technology that centralizes the database of the organization to enable a seamless view of the organization. However, implementation of ERP systems in organizations has not been a success story for many. ERP systems implementation brings about large scale organizational change and hence it becomes essential for stakeholders to have a reference framework for planning for various dimensions of the organization. Hence this chapter applies a General Morphological Analysis(GMA) to identify the most suitable theory to analyse ERP implementation. Socio technical theory with Leavitt's diamond model was analysed as most appropriate since they are based on the of premises organizational change at firm level. Socio technical organizational change model will enable stakeholders to analyse resources required for core dimensions of the organization for ERP implementation.
