A planar multi-ring monopole antenna for ultra wide band applications is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is designed using concentric rings of width 1.3 mm which leads to improved band width, radiation efficiency and reduced size. The proposed antenna size is 30∗30∗1.6 mm3 which operates over a frequency range of 2.6 to 13.5 GHz. The radiation pattern is consistent in UWB range which is bidirectional in elevation plane and omnidirectional in azimuth plane. The radiation efficiency of the proposed antenna is 94.6%. © 2015 IEEE.

This article presents the design and performance measures of a fractal monopole antenna with band rejection characteristics for ultrawide band applications. Fractal concept is incorporated to miniaturize the antenna dimension and to enhance its radiation and broadband properties. Mushroom type electromagnetic bandgap structures are introduced near the micristrip feed line to reject the WLAN frequency band. The proposed antenna operates in the frequency range 3.2-12.4 GHz with average gain of 5 dB and maximum efficiency of 97.6%. The rejection band ranges from 5.09 to 5.97 GHz. Consistent radiation characteristics exist within the operating band. The performance of the proposed antenna is confirmed by simulation and experimental results. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Fractal monopole antenna with electromagnetic bandgap structure for UWB applications

Design and performance measures of a printed multistrip monopole antenna for ultra-wideband application are presented. The proposed antenna consists of six quarter wavelength strips of different resonant frequency combined in a manner to provide wide bandwidth and omnidirectional pattern. It operates in the frequency range 2.22∼11.67 GHz with impedance bandwidth (VSWR &lt; 2) of 9.45 GHz and maximum gain of 6.07 dBi. The radiation pattern is nearly omnidirectional in the Azimuthal plane and bidirectional in the elevation plane and the consistency of the radiation pattern exists for almost all frequency in the operating band. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Design of printed multistrip monopole antenna for UWB applications

This letter presents the design and performance measures of a printed dipole antenna with band rejection characteristics for ultrawideband (UWB) applications. The proposed antenna operates in the frequency range 3.656∼ 15.64 GHz with impedance bandwidth (VSWR &lt;2) of 11.027 GHz and maximum gain of 6.046 dBi. It consists of five dipole strips of different resonant length combined orthogonally for effective signal reception. Inverted L-shaped slots were introduced in the ground plane for WLAN band rejection. The band rejection is from 5.06 ∼6.012 GHz. The radiation pattern is nearly omnidirectional in both the elevation and azimuthal plane due to the orthogonal configuration of the dipole strips. The consistency of the radiation pattern exists within the operating band. The performance of the proposed antenna is confirmed by simulation and experimental method. © 2006 IEEE.
