An efficient strategy for the synthesis of 3-acetyl-2-methyl-1-phenylisochromeno [4,3-b] pyrrol-5(1H)-ones 4a–f have been developed using montmorillonite K10 as a catalyst. The synthesized compounds have prominent antioxidant activity and fluorescence properties.

Environment dependent photophysical and fluorescence turn-off sensing properties of Fe(iii) by substituted phenyl isochromenopyrrol-5-ones

One-pot three-component reaction of substituted aromatic aldehydes, 2-cyanoacetamide and 4-hydroxycoumarin in the presence of Montmorillonite-KSF (MKSF) in ethanol results in the formation of pyrano[3,2-c]chromene-3-carboxylates (5a-m) has been described. The reaction was tested in different alcohols, afforded pyrano [3,2-c] chromene-3-carboxylates (5a-m) of the corresponding alcohols in good yield. The mechanism reveals that the alcohol (as solvent) plays a major role in the inter conversion of amide to the corresponding esters with Montmorillonite KSF (M-KSF) as a catalyst. Excellent yields, inexpensive and readily available substrates, environmentally benign reaction condition, shorter reaction time, and easy workup are the major advantageous features of this protocol. © 2018 Elsevier B.V.

Total Synthesis of Natural Products Existence in Fruits and Vegetables

A series of alkoxy-substituted 2H-chromenes were synthesized by a one-pot three-component reaction using salicylaldehydes, acetyl acetone and alcohol as reactant and medium with tetra-n-butylammonium fluoride (TBAF) as catalyst. Simple reaction conditions, short reaction time and overall good yield of products make this synthetic strategy an efficient one to synthesize 2H-chromene molecules. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for antioxidant activities. Among all the new compounds, 5j and 5k showed good inhibition [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]) at 100 [Formula: see text] concentrations.

An efficient, practical, and eco-friendly method of preparation of 9-chloro-6,13-dihydro-7-phenyl-5H-indolo[ 3,2-c]-acridines (3a-c) is reported by Friedlander condensation of 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone 1 and active methylene compound 3,4-dihydro-2H-carbazol-1(9H)-ones (2a-c) in the presence of SnO 2 nanoparticles under microwave irradiation. Indoloacridines, 3a-c, were screened for their in vitro hemolytic activity, on human erythrocytes and cytotoxicity, on HeLa and Vero cells. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2010.

SnO2 nanoparticles mediated nontraditional synthesis of biologically active 9-chloro-6,13-dihydro-7-phenyl-5H-indolo [3,2-c]-acridine derivatives

A simple and efficient procedure has been developed for the synthesis of substituted pyrrole-fused isocoumarins from easily available ninhydrin. The cyclic hemiaminal dihydroxy-indenopyrroles, the adducts of ninhydrin with enamines of acetylacetone, give pyrrole-fused isocoumarins upon heating in acidic medium. The process constitutes an interesting acid-catalyzed rearrangement to eight-membered lactams followed by intramolecular cyclization involving the amino and keto groups. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd.
