Circular microstrip reconfigurable antenna for frequency and polarization with feed configuration is presented in this paper. The wideband cascaded branch line coupler (BLC) with switching feed configuration is used to achieve horizontal linear polarization (H-LP), vertical linear polarization (V-LP), right hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left hand circular polarization (LHCP) in the antenna. The proposed cascaded BLC feed network is used to control tunable over a wideband from 1.25 to 2.95 GHz. The circular patch antenna has the tunable impedance bandwidth from 2.09 to 2.96 GHz. It is achieved by varying the varactor diode capacitance values between 4.15pF (0V) to 0.94pF (6V). The impedance bandwidth of BLC feed network is matching with the impedance bandwidth of patch antenna simultaneously to achieve all the performance. Measured results show good agreement. © 2018 IEEE.

Frequency and polarization reconfigurable patch antenna design with varactor diode and branch line coupler feed network is presented. The frequency tuning, achieved tunable impedance bandwidth from 2.34 GHz to 2.68GHz by varying the four varactor diode capacitance value between 12.33pF to 1.30pF and circular polarization using dual probe feed method. Then additional BLC feed network is used to control simultaneously both frequency tunability from 2.05 GHz to 3.13GHz and polarization which is used for S-Band application. © 2017 IEEE.

Frequency and polarization reconfigurable antenna using BLC feed network

In this study, a Koch snowflake frequency reconfigurable antenna for wideband applications is presented including experimental verification. The frequency reconfigurable approach is obtained for UHF band using RF PIN diodes, lumped capacitor and inductors. Proposed antenna is compact, therefore, it can be used as an array element. It has three measured frequency bands. These bands are: case I, 3.34- 4.52 GHz (30%); case II, 2.2-3.4 GHz (43%); and case III, 1.45-4.1 GHz (95.49%). In cases I and II, two different bands are obtained and case III covers almost the frequency band of case I and case II. Thus, the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna provides continuous wideband frequency coverage from 1.45 to 4.52 GHz (103%). In addition, the measurements are carried out to validate the performance of the antenna. The proposed antenna has good agreement between simulated and measured results with reasonably low cross polarisation. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2016.
