Growth, hardness and laser damage threshold studies on vertical Bridgman grown piperine (PPN) single crystal

Organic compound of protonated Piperazinediium bis (4-aminobenzoate) dihydrate C4H12N2 2+2(C7H6NO2 −).2(H2O) (PZ4AB) was synthesized and crystal was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. Powder X-ray diffraction and High resolution X-ray diffraction studies affirmed the crystalline perfection of the grown crystal. Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis ascertained the frequencies of various functional groups present in PZ4AB crystal. Optical transmittance and optical band gap estimation explored the optical phenomena of PZ4AB crystal. The laser-induced surface damage threshold value of PZ4AB crystal was measured to be 1.0615 GW/cm2 for the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser radiation. From Thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetric studies, the stability of PZ4AB crystal was ascertained. The dielectric manner was endowed as a function of frequency and temperature. The mechanically soft nature of the crystal was assessed by Vickers hardness measurement which exhibited the reverse indentation size effect. The nonlinear refractive index, absorption coefficient and the third-order nonlinear susceptibility of crystal were divulged by Z-scan technique. © 2019

Synthesis, crystal growth, and characterization of piperazinediium bis (4-aminobenzoate) dihydrate - An efficient third-order nonlinear optical single crystal for opto-electronic applications

Single crystals of N’-[(E)-(4-bromophenyl) (phenyl) methylidene]–4-methylbenzenesulfonohydrazide (4BBTH), having potential applications in nonlinear electro optic field. The structure is elucidated by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The functional groups are identified by FT-IR analysis. The band gap energy is estimated using diffuse reflectance data by the application of Kubelka–Munk algorithm. Third-order nonlinear optical properties of the grown crystal were derived by employing a single beam Z-scan technique. Theoretical calculations were performed using density functional theory (DFT) method. Estimated large first-order molecular hyperpolarizality of 9.79 times of urea, suggests a charge transfer atmosphere facilitating micro level nonlinearity.GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT (Figure presented.). © 2018, © 2018 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Synthesis, growth, structural and HOMO and LUMO, MEP analysis of a new stilbazolium derivative crystal: A enhanced third-order NLO properties with a high laser-induced damage threshold for NLO applications

A single crystal of 3-acetyl-2-methyl-4-phenylquinolin-1-ium chloride has grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique using ethanol as solvent. The structural, thermal, optical and mechanical property has studied for the grown crystal. Single crystal XRD revealed that the crystal belongs to monoclinic system with space group P21/c. The presences of Functional groups in the crystallized material have confirmed using the FTIR vibrational spectrum. The optical absorbance spectrum recorded from 190 to 1100nm shows the cut-off wavelength occurs at 371nm. The material shows its transparency in the entire region of the visible spectrum. The photoluminescence spectrum shows the ultraviolet and blue emission in the crystal. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis reveal the thermal stability of the grown crystal. Etching study shows the grown mechanism and surface features of the crystal. Vickers microhardness studies have carried out on the (01-1) plane to understand the mechanical properties of the grown crystal. The hardness of the title compound increases on increasing the load. The Meyer's index number (n), and the stiffness constants for different loads has calculated and reported.
