A new organic stilbazolium derivative crystal 2-[2-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxy-phenyl)-vinyl]-1-methyl-pyridinium naphthalene-2-sulfonate dehydrate (C25H23NO5S·2H2O) (VSNS) was synthesized successfully.

Urea-adipic acid (UHA) co-crystal was synthesized and harvested at room temperature by the slow evaporation method. The single X-Ray diffraction of the crystal system and its lattice parameters of the UHA co-crystal were determined. The functional nature of the compound was analyzed using FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra. By the UV–Vis spectrum, the optical transmission property was estimated and the mechanical stability was found by Vickers microhardness experiment. Further, the thermal stability and melting point was studied by TG/DSC methods. In the range of frequencies 50 Hz -5 MHz at different temperatures 313 K, 333 K, 353 K, and 373 K the crystal dielectric behavior has been observed. Fluorescence study and lifetime-resolved decay computation were also performed. The SEM picture rendered the surface morphology of UHA crystal. The structural properties of the UHA crystal were computed utilizing the CAM-B3LYP method and 6–311++G(d,p) basis set and found agreeable with the experiment data (XRD). The linear polarizability (α) and hyperpolarizability (β) of first-order have also been determined. The HOMO and LUMO (bandgap) energies, molecular electrostatic potential and Non-linear optics (NLO) explain the chemical activity of the UHA confirming the advantage of the material. The UHA nonlinear optical characteristics of third-order have been analyzed by the Z-scan technique. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

Single crystals of Nickel Boro Phthalate (NBP) are grown by the slow evaporation technique. The crystals are subjected to Single crystal x-ray diffraction to analyse the crystal lattice parameters, and the crystal structure is found to be triclinic. The presence of functional groups has been estimated qualitatively from the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis is done using the Energy dispersive x-ray spectral study. The UV-visible spectral studies indicate a broad window of transparency in the entire visible and infrared region and the fundamental frequency is determined to be 285 nm. Optical properties such as the dielectric constant, polarizability, susceptibility, optical and electrical conductivity are presented graphically. Third-order nonlinear parameters are evaluated by the Z scan technique using continuous wave 532 nm diode- pumped Nd:YAG laser. Closed aperture mode indicates the self-defocusing nature and negative nonlinearity of the crystal. Open aperture mode reveals the saturation absorption within the crystal. The nonlinear optical parameters such as nonlinear refractive index n2, nonlinear absorption coefficient β and nonlinear susceptibility χ (3) are also determined. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Studies on third order nonlinear optical properties of Nickel Boro Phthalate NLO crystal

In the current research, (E)-4-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxystyryl)-1-methyl pyridinium iodide monohydrate (HMSI) has been prepared through Knoevenagel condensation and crystallized by slow evaporation technique. Crystallographic analysis has been carried out to study the crystal structure and unit cell parameters. The fundamental vibration frequencies of specific chemical functional groups were detected by infrared absorption spectrum. Further the molecular structure of the grown crystal was confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic analysis. Thermal stability (145 °C) and meting point (248 °C) of the HMSI material have been elaborated by means of thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetric (TG/DSC) analysis. The crystal was found to be transparent above 460 nm with the band gap of 2.63 eV obtained from transmission spectral analysis. The growth features of HMSI crystal were examined to check for the defects using an optical microscope. Crystal surface damage by Nd: YAG laser at 1.064 μm radiation was measured to be 1.98 GW/cm2. Further, the nonlinear response of HMSI has been studied using Z-scan technique and it was found that the title crystal is capable of exhibiting self-focusing nature with reverse saturable absorption. The evaluated nonlinear susceptibility is in the order of 10−6 esu which is slightly higher compared to other third-order stilbazolium derivative crystals. © 2018
