Abstract
We design a dispersion flattened air-silicon photonic nanowire embedded spiral photonic crystal fiber (SiPN-SPCF) for supercontinuum generation in the visible region using finite element method. The zero dispersion occurs in two wavelengths at 0.3 μm and 1.170 μm for a core diameter of 280 nm. This fiber also provides ultra flattened dispersion in the wavelength range 0.250 to 1.050 μm, low third order dispersion and high nonlinearity (1433 W-1 m-1). The proposed fiber exhibits an improvement over the dispersion control of a hexagonal silica PCF and highly nonlinear silicon PCF. The enhanced optical properties of the fiber can be used in the generation of supercontinuum from visible to near IR region. © Research India Publications.
