Present attempt reports the characteristics of nonlinear radiation and induced magnetic field on the forced convective Falkner-Skan flow of Single-Walled Carbon NanoHorn(SWCNH)/diamond-ethylene glycol (EG) and water nanofluid over a wedge, plate, and stagnation point. We consider 40:60 EG and water mixture as base fluid. Similarity transformations are utilized to transform the governing equations into ordinary differential equation and solved numerically using Runge–Kutta (RK) Fehlberg method. To check the accuracy of present model, numerical results for various Prandtl numbers have been compared with the results from the literature which divulges good agreement. Influence of active parameters like magnetic Prandtl number, magnetic parameter, radiation parameter, Biot number, Prandtl number and temperature parameter are graphically presented. Results exhibit that SWCNH nanoparticle has a higher heat transfer compared with diamond nanoparticle. Increasing the nanoparticle volume fraction with the suspensions of SWCNH and diamond nanoparticles enhances the temperature over the wedge, plate and stagnation point. © 2019, EDP Sciences, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

SWCNH/diamond-ethylene glycol nanofluid flow over a wedge, plate and stagnation point with induced magnetic field and nonlinear radiation – solar energy application

The automotive lighting industry is adopting compact cooling systems for high power light emitting diodes (HPLED) to overcome the heating issues in headlamps. Today, nano-particle based fluids are becoming popular as coolants as it is more effective than conventional coolant like water. The present work uses nano-fluid which is prepared using 100 percent ethylene glycol with 35 nm spherical shaped alumina nanoparticle with 1 percent volume concentration for HPLED cooling system. Using a custom made copper tube heat exchanger, experiments were conducted to study the performance of the cooling system using nano coolant and double distilled pure water as second coolant and results were compared. A popular Indian SUV headlamp that uses a halogen bulb was chosen for the study as it has space to accommodate the cooling system. Experiments were conducted by operating the HPLED at its maximum power and by varying the coolant flow rate. The performance of headlamp is studied by means of the light intensity measured at 49 test points on the floor surface and temperature measured at various points like LED junction and heat exchanger input and output. The junction temperature influences the light intensity of the LED. Lesser the junction temperature more will be the light intensity. It was found from the results that the junction temperature reduced by 26 percent with the help of the nano-fluid based cooling system. It is also found that the light intensity improved by 30 percent when the nano coolant was circulated at 0.3 m/s.

Liquid cooling system for a high power light emitting diode of an automotive headlamp and its effect on light intensity

The present work deals with the numerical study of two-dimensional incompressible, magnetohydrodynamic Falkner-Skan flow of Carreau nanofluid over wedge, plate and stagnation of the flat plate with convective boundary condition and chemical reaction. The influence of thermophoresis and Brownian motion are taken into account. Similarity transformations are utilized to transform the governing equations into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations and solved numerically using Runge–Kutta Fehlberg scheme. A comparison has been made with the published results which reveals a good agreement. The influence of different physical parameters on flow, temperature and nanoparticle concentration distributions have been discussed in detail. A constitutional analysis has been made for skin friction coefficient, heat and mass transfer rates. Results elucidate that the influence of magnetic parameter on velocity is high over flat plate compared with wedge and stagnation point of the flat plate. Heat transfer performance is higher on shear thinning fluid compared with shear thickening fluid. Further, an increase in Brownian motion decreases the heat transfer rate but enhances the mass transfer rate. © 2019, EDP Sciences, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Hydromagnetic forced convective flow of Carreau nanofluid over a wedge/plate/stagnation of the plate

In this paper, we have studied the influence of wall properties and aligned magnetic field on the peristaltic transport and heat and mass transfer of a Jeffrey/Newtonian nanofluid in a tapered channel. The analytical solutions are obtained for the stream function, the temperature and the concentration. Further, we obtained the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers at the wall. The effects of all important parameters on the physical quantities of the flow for both Jeffrey and Newtonian fluids are investigated through graphs and deliberated in detail. The velocity and temperatures are high for Newtonian fluid than Jeffrey fluid and the opposite situation is observed for concentration field. The large values of the magnetic parameter suppress the velocity and temperature fields but the reverse situation is seen in the case of concentration field. Also observed that the inclination angle of magnetic field and wall parameters have shown a significant effect on this investigation. © 2019, EDP Sciences, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
