I have done my Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics, M.Sc. and B.Sc in Agriculture from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore. Post-doctoral research at University of Leeds (UK) on 'Structure and function of myosin V' using single-particle electron microscopy and image processing. How the cargo-binding tail domain regulates the structure and function of myosin V- this work has been published in the journal Nature in 2006. Molecular motors are protein machines that walk on F-actin or microtubule using ATP as fuel.
After becoming a faculty in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), as an Associate Professor, I am teaching 'Advanced Biochemistry' to M.Sc students and 'Biophysics and Structural Biology' to B.Tech students of Biotechnology. At present, as a Professor, teaching Genomics & Proteomics.
In my lab in VIT, I have guided five Ph.D. students (completed), four (ongoing), and several PG and UG student projects. Research focus: obesity, diabetes, aging. Model animals/cell line: Drosophila (fruit fly), mice/rat, adipocyte cell lines.
