Abstract
The natural fiber composite offers numerous advantages over the synthetic fiber composite. In this work, the effects of the nature of alkali used for fiber treatment, curing temperature, and fiber volume on the dynamic behavior of banana fiber-reinforced hybrid polymer matrix composite were studied. The various alkali solutions, used for fiber treatment, were prepared from NaOH, KOH, and KMnO4. The hybrid polymer, used as matrix, was prepared by blending cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) with Isotholic Polyester. The dynamic behavior of the composite was studied using commercial Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software ANSYS and the same was validated through experimental analysis. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique was employed using the Taguchi and Response Surface Methodology (RSM) approaches to find out the level of influence of different parameters on the dynamic behavior of a composite. The predictions, obtained from Taguchi and RSM, were compared. © 2017 by Begell House, Inc.
