In the advancing field of science and technology, biomaterial applications are increasing day by day. Specifically, nanobiomaterials play a significant role in the area of medical sciences. The use of these nanobiomaterials is due its reliability, lightweight with high mechanical and biological properties like interfacing, matching, biocompatibility etc., which are supposed to be more advantageous than traditional biomaterials. The most common categories of nanobiomaterials used are ceramic, polymeric and metal based biomaterial. These three are used either individually or in a combination known as nanocomposite. The production methods of these materials are however more complicated and in the need of new technological advancements. In this paper, we focus on the list of globally available nanobiomaterials with their properties and applications in bone replacement and dental restorative applications. As well as the overall merits and demerits of using nanostructured biomaterials have been indicated. © 2017 Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs - India. All rights reserved.
