The human health problems, cases of patients suffering from musculoskeletal disorders are rapidly increasing. Under such conditions an appropriately designed and fabricated biomaterial with bone mimicking properties and structure is necessary for the restoration of hard tissue function. This paper introduces different types of biomaterials and their advantages as implants in applications for femur bone repairs. Relevant history and research progresses are summarized. © Research India Publications.
