Dr. T. B. Sridharan Professor, Department of Industrial Biotechnology, School of Biosciences and Technology, VIT University, Vellore632014.
I have masters in Zoology in Annammalai University, Annamalainagar during 1992-1994. scored university Rank II and Distinction in his specialisation in Entomology. I joined prestigious Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDE Gwalior, MP India., as a Medical Entomologist, in JRF position and registered in Jiwaji University Gwalior, completed my Ph. D. in Neurobiology of Defence oreinted Medically/verternary important insects. In addition, studies on electoron microscopy both in ultrastructure (TEM) and Morphology (SEM) is commendable and took majority of the thesis. fopr my electron microscopy, had collaboration with Prof R Naresh Singh of Molecular Biology Unit, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Navy Mumbai. And he got trained there for 3 months.
Further i joined as a Post Doctoral Fellow in Centre for Biotechnology, SPIC Science Foundation, Guindy, Chennai, under Rockefeller Fellowship for Rice Biotechnology with Dr George Thomas, Director SPIC Science Foundation and served there for nearly 3 years. i learned and contributed in various research activities including : to evaluate the transgenic plants cloned with anti-insect feedant protein, F1 segregation analysis of those transgenic seeds, Bioassay of transgenic plants with Spodoptera litura and Heliothis armigera army worm, overexpression of recombinant protein and insect feeding bioassay of the same recombinant protein, transferring the insect tolerant protein expressing ngenes in tobacco, cauliflower and cabbage, standardisation of Western blot for the transgenic plants that they were generated, over expression and His-tag based nickel affinity chromatography etc.,
Further i have done my Post Doctoral Fellow in EGIDE France an indo-French Fellowship. n Universitie de Technology de Compiegne, Compiegne France, 1 month during December 2003.
i joined VIT in April 2002, and interested in teaching and research in human male infertility. My team has plan to identify fertility related proteins and supply of the same along with infertile semen to enhance fertility by ART techniques. Seminogelin is one such protein identifies and they were characterised the same. They have standardised a rapid protocol for isolation of human semen DNA.i have more than 72 publications in national and international reputed Journals and 1 book and 1 patent in this area. I guided 2 Post Doctoral Fellows, completed 11 Ph Ds and 2 MS by Research students. And 6 Ph. D Scholars are currently working. Total citation 295 and h index is 10.
